Kripalu Yoga
Kripalu's approach to Yoga practice is unique, integrating the rigor of tradional yoga with advances in contemporary health science, growth psychology, and the work of today's pioneers in the study of consciousness.
Kripalu Yoga provides people with tools for optimal living and ample opportunities to cultivate vibrant physical health, nurture emotional wellness and draw spiritual sustenance from within and without.

Kripalu Yoga is a tool for self empowerment and personal growth. The practice teaches you to tap into your own inner knowing rather than being dependent upon guidance from others.  You can find your way to your own “Sacred Space”. The individual learns to be open to what others have to offer without giving away the power to discern and make one’s own decisions. At the same time, you are also discovering an intimate and nurturing  relationship with your body. Every sensation that you may become newly aware of is sacred and is responded to with the attention and care each person is capable of.

Life can be stressful. How do you handle stress? Many of us would rather not deal with it at all, but self-medicate with alcohol, drugs, food and other addictive behaviors. Others internalize it, and later find them selves with medical problems.

We need to learn to manage stress before it creates illness. One way is through the ancient system of self-improvement called hatha yoga. Kripalu yoga is one of the many styles of hatha yoga.

The practice of Kripalu yoga is designed to lead us to an ever-increasing knowledge of our min and body’s needs in order to achieve and maintain good physi8cal, mental and spiritual health. People in classes range from their teens to their latter years; many suffer from a broad range of medical and emotional conditions including heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, osteoporosis, back problems, anxiety , depression , PTSD and other forms of mental suffering. Others practice Kripalu yoga to simply improve their strength, flexibility, and balance. Others seek to cultivate inner stillness.

The way is the same for all. Kripalu yoga emphasizes what is right with people: their capacity for learning, for mobilizing their inner strengths and for changing behavior in new and imaginative ways. Each session includes postures, guided breathing, relaxation and mediation.

Postures (asanas) , help lubricate the body. They keep the muscles and joints running smoothly. stretch and tone the internal organs, and increase circulation without creating fatigue.

Each person goes to their own limits of strength, flexibility and balance.  There is no one “right way” or image to mold to. Rather, each individual finds their own edge, and the practice becomes unique.
